1) What did you
find the most challenging and why?
Throughout the process of creating and planning my transition task, the aspect that I found the most challenging was picking the appropriate song and making sure the choreography was right. Due to the fact we were working in groups, we had to make a unanimous decision on the song we wanted to do. However, what we didn’t realize was that the music video for ‘R U Mine’ by Arctic Monkeys had minimal editing, which didn’t show our editing skills. The majority of the one minute sequence was just one shot, so we had to make sure our actors knew when to lip sync and do the movements at the right time. This also made it more difficult to make the lip syncing match the audio as we couldn’t edit the clip to much to make it match.

2) What will you
do differently when you make your A2 product next year?
When I create my
A2 product next year, I will make sure I will do a song that I can create a
video which can show off my camera and editing skills. It might also be easier
as I will be working on my own, which means that there won’t be conflicts or
tension within the group over how to do things.
I will also do more planning, as this will make it easier when it comes
to creating the product, as I will know exactly what I want to achieve.
3) How has doing
this task helped you and why? What have you taken away from this experience?
This task has
helped me to know how much planning was needed for only a 1 minute clip and how
much more will be needed when I create my A2 product. This task has also helped
me improve my editing skills on final cut pro. From this experience, I have
learnt how vital it is to do many different takes so that it is easier when it
comes to editing as I will have more of a selection of shots.
4) How successful
was your product? Why do you think it was successful or unsuccessful?
I think my product
was successful reconstruction of the ‘R U Mine’ music video. Even though there
are some minor difference with ours such as in the actual music video it is
dark outside, but we couldn’t do this as we didn’t have the correct lighting
and we could only borrow the car during the college day. However, I believe we
used the right cast to play Alex Turner and Matt Helders
5) How do you feel
about developing to A2 level now you have completed this task?
I feel excited to
begin A2 now as it has given me some inspiration of what I want to create next
for my final product, and has introduced me to the skills I will need to know
and which I can build on during A2.
6) What do you
like most/least about your final product
In regards to my
transition music video, I like how similar it is to the actual music video. I
also like how we have captured the simplicity of the video yet it is still
clear it is of the indie/rock genre. On the other hand, what I like least about
my product is how at some points the lip sync is off but it was hard to match
it up perfectly.
